Cedar Lake a 1,750-acre reservoir in Southern Illinois that was created by the damming of Cedar Creek, a tributary of the Big Muddy River in 1974. The lake was constructed for the purpose of supplying tap water to the residents of Carbondale.

Lake Glendale Recreation Area
The 82-acre lake offers good fishing opportunities for bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie and sunfish. The picnic areas feature flush toilets and large open areas for games or group gatherings. There is also the 3-mile trail you can take around the lake.

Lake Murphysboro State Park
Lake Murphysboro is a popular retreat for bank fishing. No matter what form of fishing one prefers, anglers will appreciate the variety of fish available: largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and crappie.

Sahara Woods State Fish & Wildlife Area
In July of 2011 the site was opened for the first time to public fishing. Currently only two boat ramps are located at Sahara Woods, one on the 98 acre Sahara Lake, and one on a 15 acre strip cut located to the east of Sahara Lake.

The Resort At Egyptian Hills
The Lake of Egypt is a reservoir in the Little Egypt region of Illinois. It is located six miles south of Marion, Illinois and covers 2,300 acres with 90 miles of shoreline. The lake has an average depth of 18 feet with a maximum depth of 52 feet. Fishing includes Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, Striped Bass, and Crappie.

Tower Rock Recreation Center
Located along the banks of the Ohio River, Tower Rock Campground offers beautiful scenery and close proximity to water activities like fishing and boating. The 1/4 mile trail can be accessed near the boat launch. Be aware this area is prone to flooding when river levels fluctuate.

Cache River State Park
Channel catfish, crappie, bass and bluegill are prized by area fishermen. Less sought after but true swamp fish include the bowfin, needlenose gar, grass pickerel and yellow bullhead catfish. Pygmy sunfish and cypress minnows are two state-endangered fish found only in wetlands dominated by forested swamps.

Fort Massac State Park
Boating and fishing are permitted on and along the Ohio River. Anglers will find bullhead, carp, catfish, crappie, drum and largemouth bass. The boat dock and launch ramp easy river access.
