George Rogers Clark Discovery Trail

Enjoy a scenic ride or walk along this new concrete trail inside Fort Massac State Park. Use of the bicycle and pedestrian path is free, and parking is located inside Fort Massac State Park. Upon its completion, the 9 mile trail will begin at Superman Square, continue through Fort Massac State Park, and end in the city of Brookport.

Mountain Bike Trails at Touch of Nature

The bike trails include 10 miles of beginner (green) and more difficult (blue) traditional and mountain bike optimized trails. They are an interconnected system of trails, providing access from a new trailhead at the main entrance outwards.  It is open for bikers, hikers, walkers and runners. Plans call for the ultimate goal of constructing 30 miles of trails at Touch of Nature.

Sandburn Junction is located on Sandburn Lane off of Hwy 45. We are one mile south of the tunnel on the Tunnel Hill State Bike Trail....(right on the trail!). We are also located near the Transcontinental Bike Route. Primitive Tent Camping, Bicycle Rentals and Repairs also available.

Our eBikes (pedal assist electric bicycles) are foldable so you have the option of transporting our bikes to the ride of your choice if you have an acceptable (large enough) vehicle and are able to remain within the time restriction of the rental. Our bikes may be picked up by reservation at our base location. They can also be delivered and picked up at another agreed upon locations including  Bed & Breakfast locations, certain ride locations and at the Famous Tunnel Hill Trail in Vienna, IL.

Tunnel Hill State Trail

The Tunnel Hill State Trail is a bicycle trail running from Eldorado to Karnak, Illinois. The trail runs along the former bed of a part of the Cairo and Vincennes Railroad. The Tunnel Hill State Trail offers bicyclists, hikers, walkers and runners with 50 miles of the most beautiful and peaceful miles in Illinois. The Trail stretches south from Harrisburg, through Vienna to Karnak, and includes a 2.5-mile spur through the Cache River State Nature Area.

Lake Glendale -Dixon Springs

Bikers now have access to 19 miles of trail between Lake Glendale Recreation Area and Dixon Springs State Park, which now has a dual designation for mountain bike use as well as hiking. This trail system consists of sixteen miles on the Shawnee National Forest and three miles in the Dixon Springs State Park. The system includes the popular Lake Trail around Lake Glendale whose designation has been changed from hiker-only to hiker/bicycle use.
