DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again\, Shawnee Chapter Illinois Audubon Society’s annual Hummingbird Day is just around the corner\, on Saturday July 27\, from 9 AM – Noon. \nWe’ll gather at Illinois Audubon Society’s War Bluff Valley Wildlife Sanctuary (228 Bushwack Rd\, Golconda\, IL 62938) and celebrate these little jewels of the sky. Everyone is welcome to attend\, learn something new and share your own experiences or stories. \nHummingbird Day provides an opportunity to observe these fascinating little birds and learn more about their amazing lives. Presentations on hummingbirds will take place throughout the morning. Children’s activities will be on-going as well. Hummingbird feeders\, t-shirts\, garden signs and other merchandise will be available for purchase. Register for a chance to win a hummingbird-related door prize. Light refreshments will be available. \nThe event officially ends at noon\, but everyone is invited to stay as long as they like and enjoy watching the hummingbirds at the feeders and explore the trails. It is a day in which we assess the animals\, get their weights\, tag this years calves\, and give the animals any help they may require before releasing them back out on pasture to roam.    Buffalo Day is a free event starting around 8am and lasting until the last animal makes its way down our chutes to be assessed\, typically around 4pm. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a scary good time at our second annual Spooky Catalyst Race\, taking place on October 26\, 2024. When the racers are finished\, there will be a fun podium ceremony for the winners with lunch and ice-cold drinks available. We will recognize the top three male and female riders in each category. All attendees are invited to join in on the family-friendly Halloween themed activities including the costume contest as well. Dress to impress!
