Research and Writing Projects of the Johnson County Genealogical and Historical Society

November 17 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

If you are interested in southern Illinois history or genealogy come join us in Vienna, Illinois at the Vienna public Library, located on the historic Johnson County public square.  Program is free and begins at 2:30 pm.   Presenter: Ed Annable presenting the program “Tornadoes of Johnson County.”

Southern Illinois historian and writer, Ed Annable will be presenting the program “Tornadoes of Johnson County” beginning with the 1866 tornado that did significant damage. This tornado was reported widely with one news report in a Dublin, Ireland, newspaper. Even the 1925 tornado through southern Illinois, which did not strike the county, brought grief to some living in Johnson County. Learn about these and other tornadoes affecting Johnson County and its citizens.

This will truly be an informative and educational program, as Annable has been doing research about Johnson County for many years and has recently authored two books, The Law and Judge Lynch, 200 Years of Murder in Johnson County, Illinois and Six Years in the Illinois Territory 1812 – 1818. Copies of these books will be available at this presentation.
